The images of Kathrine Lemke Waste, a Sacramento-based watercolor painter, bring out brilliant detail and color. American Art Collector Magazine, writing in 2006, said that Waste “finds a beauty in common, ordinary objects that other people may just pass by without noticing.” The painter has also built a steady following in the Sacramento area for her watercolor workshops, an outgrowth of her two decades of experience teaching college art classes. When she approached Keller & Faber, she was bogged down with a website that did not rise to the detail and attention reflected in her work.

Our solution, more comprehensive than a redesign, was a rethinking of how her roles as a painter and teacher could be presented on the web. The clean design and intuitive navigation of the portfolio sections allow her paintings to predominate, encouraging the spare contemplation of a gallery space. Waste can easily update the paintings, news, and workshops on the site herself, using a custom-built content management system.

“It’s an absolute necessity for me to have a way to feature my portfolio, update new work and communicate with clients, collectors and galleries,” Waste says. “Keller & Faber custom-built my site with a clean design that is visually appealing but doesn’t compete with my paintings. It has become my most effective marketing tool.”
